Jewellery repair software, with the customer’s property kept out of stock
A customer’s ring on your bench is not your stock, is not your asset, and must not appear in a valuation of what you own. Most systems that started as tills get this wrong, and it is the fastest way to make an insurance conversation difficult.
Exports to Xero and Sage.
Bailment, not inventory
Repairs and valuations are held as customer property under bailment. They are tracked, photographed and moved like anything else on the premises, and they are never counted as stock in a report or a stock valuation.
Where the job is, without the phone call
Every job has a status page at its own link, which the customer can open without an account. It answers the only question they ring to ask.
Inside, the workshop role sees movement and jobs and nothing else: no cost prices, no VAT screens, no client book.
What this uses
The modules behind this page, and the plan that opens each. This table is generated from the rule the software enforces, so it cannot advertise something your plan will not open.
| Module | What it does | From |
|---|---|---|
| Repairs & valuations | Customer property held under bailment - never counted as stock. | Trade |
| Workshop | Where every piece physically is. Pauses listings when out of the safe. | Trade |
| Clients | Buyers, sellers, trade, consignors and wish lists. | Trade |
| Till | Counter sales, part-exchange, and the invoice in the customer's hand. | Trade |
Questions
- Is a customer’s repair counted as stock?
- Never. It is held under bailment as customer property, tracked and photographed, and excluded from every stock figure.
- Can a customer check their repair?
- Yes, at a private link for that job. No account, no password, and nothing else in your system is reachable from it.
- Can bench staff see prices?
- The workshop role sees movement and jobs. Cost prices, VAT and the client book are outside it.
Answers on this
- Jewellery repair tracking software: the envelope, the job card and the systems that do it
A repair system must print the envelope, move jobs through stages, notify the customer and count customers' property apart from stock. Nine options compared.
- Is my customer's ring insured while it's in my workshop?
Only if your policy covers goods in trust, and only up to that limit. Customer property is a bailment: you owe a duty of care and must prove you met it.
- Jewellery valuation software compared - and what a valuation should cost the customer
UK valuers use GuildPro, Instappraise or Jewellery Valuer Pro; shop systems add thin appraisal modules. Customers pay about £60-£110 an item, by time not value.
